Niagara Grief Center ~ Providing sustained emotional support to people of all ages affected by sudden traumatic death and grief. We are founded on the belief that every person deserves the opportunity to grieve in a supportive and understanding environment. A program of the Niagara Behavioral Healthcare Network.

Grief is a normal and healthy response to death and loss. People grieving sudden traumatic death often experience different reactions than those who have lost family members or friends to natural causes.
Sudden traumatic death - whether brought about by homicide, suicide, combat or a tragic accident - often leaves survivors and witnesses in need of special care.
Recovery is often a slow and continual process, that can take years. There may be setbacks along the way. The Niagara Grief Center provides information and referrals for short and long term care.
Presently there are no fees for the services offered by the Niagara Grief Center due to grants received and the support of the Niagara Behavioral Healthcare Network. The NBHN realizes that in times of great pain, sorrow and distress due to sudden traumatic death and grief, the discussion of fees and money issues can be seen as inappropriate and often cause additional stress.
However, should therapeutic grief work with a professional therapist be desired, any applicable fee(s) will be determined by the practicing professional with the client. Victims of crime are eligible to receive assistance from the Niagara County Sheriff's Department Victim Assistance Unit. Information regarding the Unit can be found on the web at www.ncsd.com/victim.htm or by calling (716) 438-3306.
The Niagara Grief Center may serve as a source of referral to therapists specializing in sudden death bereavement work. Most insurances provide coverage for therapeutic interventions. A call to your insurance provider will clarify the number of sessions and co-pay.
The Niagara Grief Center gratefully accepts donations and memorial gifts from the community. Checks may be made payable to the Niagara Behavioral Healthcare Network and are tax deductible. |
